though we stopped at some hostel

Ничего не могли понять
сотрудники детского хосписа
обычный ребёнок
вполне нормального вида
ни рака там прости господи
ни спина бифида
ни бокового амиотрофического склероза
ни миодистрофии Дюшена
здоров совершенно
румян с мороза
ну колики
ну живот
а мать плачет, говорит до тридцать пятого не доживет
а мы ведь не наркоманы
не алкоголики
хоть и без регистрации
остановились в каком-то хостеле
и за что это нам за какие ещё грехи
господи
в приемной толпятся какие-то пастухи
родня наверно
у этих обычно полно родни
людям же надо чувствовать
что они в этом чертовом городе
в этом проклятом хостеле
не одни.
А мальчик спал.
Врач собирался на выезд в Аннино.
Звёзд было не видно из-за ярких огней Собянина.
Прошла уборщица, позвякивая ведром.
Все работало, как завод,
Театр,
Аэродром.
Только у всех детей в отделении
Часа на четыре
Почему-то пропал болевой синдром.
