Что красит девушку? Не яркий цвет помады,
Не золото, не бархат, не шелка.
Что красит девушку? Какою быть ей надо?
Об этом говорят во все века:

What decorates a girl? It's not a bright lipstick,
Nor is it velvet, silkware, neither gold.
What does it then? What is it she should pick?
For centuries to us it has been told.

Не гордой, а приветливой и скромной,
Не дерзкой, а послушной и простой,
Чтоб, чистотою покоряя мир огромный,
Она бежала бы от болтовни пустой.

With being friendly, modest, never proud,
Not daring but obedient and plain,
With purity to win huge worlds about,
She would avoid that gossiping in vain.

Нет скверных слов, нет выкриков хвастливых,
Красавице такое не к лицу,
Нет взглядов неприличных и блудливых,
А есть почтенье к матери, к отцу.

No foul word, no boastful yell is cast,
To our beauty it does not befit,
No look of lechery, no single glance of lust,
But there's respect to Mum and Dad, indeed.

Красива та, которая умеет
Себя смирить и ближнего простить.
Прекрасна та, которая не смеет
Себе позволить лгать, хамить и мстить.

That one is beautiful who certainly is able
To curb herself, forgive the one beside.
That one is fine who will herself disable
To boor and lie; will put revenge aside.

Блистает ярко красотой чудесной
Та, у которой совесть говорит:
«Будь целомудренной, трудолюбивой, честной,
Такою быть Сам Бог тебе велит!»

With wondrous beauty she is there to glare,
That one whose consciousness continuously repeats:
"Be honest, chaste, industrious and fair,
The same way God's own wisdom teaching reads!"

Сегодня многие желают быть иными
И рабски служат ложной красоте.
Желаю, девушки, я вам не быть такими,
А всеми силами стремиться к чистоте.

To be unlike that many wish today,
Each serves false beauty humbly as a slave.
I wish you, girls, resembled those no way,
But to the purity your way could strongly pave.

Когда любовью, верой, добротою
Наполнен будет жизни каждый час,
Тогда спасительной небесной красотою
Господь чудесно всех украсит нас!

When in great kindness, faith and warming love
Just every instant of this life is rich,
Then with all-saving beauty from above
God will endow with wonder all and each!
