- Эй, шофер, вези - Бутырский хутор,
Где тюрьма, - да поскорее мчи!
- Ты, товарищ, опоздал, ты на два года перепутал -
Разбирают уж тюрьму на кирпичи.

- Очень жаль, а я сегодня спозаранку
По родным решил проехаться местам...
Ну да ладно, что ж, шофер, тогда вези меня в "Таганку", -
Погляжу, ведь я бывал и там.

- Разломали старую "Таганку" -
Подчистую, всю, ко всем чертям!
- Что ж, шофер, давай назад, крути-верти свою баранку, -
Так ни с чем поедем по домам.

Или нет, шофер, давай закурим,
Или лучше - выпьем поскорей!
Пьем за то, чтоб не осталось по России больше тюрем,
Чтоб не стало по России лагерей!

English translation:


- Hey, chauffeur, drive to Butyrka settlement,
Where the jail’s, - about it be quick!
- You bet, comrade, pretty late you are, - for a couple of years:  not a battlement -
They’re dismantling all of the prison for the brick.


- Such a pity:  morning felt - there is some reason, -   
Looking at my native places, hitherto …
Well, smart driver, the other way: drive on and hit Taganka prison, -
Wanna look at it, I would stay there too.


- They’ve destroyed the old Taganka building,   
Smashed  completely, all of it, to hell!
- Turn reverse,  smart driver, whirl it to and fro - your steering-wheeling:
Let's go back with nothing, good and well.   
 

Yet, chauffeur, let's smoke, and as well as, -   
It is better - off we'll quickly toss!    
Let us drink for having not remained in Russia any goals,    
For a removal of all the Russian camps of cause.
