Sea lions and seals in the snow --
Snowboarders chant the song of a new generation.
"Pizza slices and french fries*" --
the ski instructors chime in down the hill.
The Black Mesa eeriely beckons
beyond the bend...
for a moment not only the ski lift --
the world is still.
The fall of the snowflakes --
the only refrain in the changing landscape.
O'Keefe's flowers - the silent sopranos
of the desert's opera Ring**.
A couple rabbis and a crowd
enchanted by the flickering
of a newly lit menorah --
God's light skies out
to potential skiers
and even to snowboarders
greeting all in the four corners of
Santa Fe square.
