Dialogues of the Planetoids

A distant world, a mask of ice
sobbed to old Pluto, "Sympathise..."
"Just let me orbit," Plut replies.

"All was so well," went on our friend
"for twenty years hid in shame
my size is small, but my new name --
I can not say it, I resent
young namers with their poky eyes."

Old Pluto snickered, "Why the cries?
A belt stud's been legitimised --
one catalogued speck amongst the skies."

It must be hard to empathise
when you're just a piece of ice
with trickling scars of silver veins
and sun's warm rays bring only strains.

"But don't despair named friend,"
laughed Plut, "when namers' dust is spent
we will still rise over the bend."
