I mourn the time I let decay
My youth is gone beyond recall,
So much was simply tossed away,
I wish I hadn't lost it all.
So many hours thrown aside,
Those precious years just swiftly glide.
They can't return, they disappear,
A heavy cost, a silent tear.
Life is a gift, a wondrous thing,
Its worth I failed to recognize,
Too late the understanding bring,
Reflected now within my eyes.
I fell so often on the track,
A higher power gave me aid,
Helped lift me up and bring me back,
When I was lost and sore afraid.
My vanished youth brings deep regret,
A feeling I cannot forget.
Yet hope remained, a tiny light,
And always burned so clear and bright.
Life is a gift, a wondrous thing,
Its worth I failed to recognize,
Too late the understanding bring,
Reflected now within my eyes.
This life's a present, truly great,
I understood it far too late.
Its precious meaning I ignored,
A lesson painfully explored.
Though sorrow for the past is deep,
A hopeful glimmer stayed inside,
A promise that my heart could keep,
Where faith and courage still reside.
Life is a gift, a wondrous thing,
Its worth I failed to recognize,
Too late the understanding bring,
Reflected now within my eyes.
