Живу не так, как бы хотелось,
Заели суета и быт.
И осторожность, а не смелость
Порою мной руководит.

Живу не так, как мне мечталось,
Когда я пылок был и юн.
И только музыка осталась
От тех, не знавших фальши, струн.

Живу не так, как нас учили
Ушедшие учителя.
Когда судьбу земли вручили,
О чём не ведала Земля…

Живу не так. Но слава богу,
Я различаю свет и мрак
И не судите слишком строго
Вы все, живущие не так.

I do not live as I've been wanting,
I'm stuck with the routine and fuss.
And not courage, but caution, haunting,
Sometimes guides me, like most of us.

I do not live as I've been dreaming,
When I was passionate and young.
And just remained the music streaming -
From strings, that had not falseness done.

I don't live as we were taught schooling -
By the gone teachers, the wise men,
When earth fate was handed for ruling,
What the Earth itself didn't know then…

I live life not like that. But thank God,
I differ light and darkness met,
And judge me too much strictly do not,
You all, living life not like that.
