I saw a mango-colored sky...

I saw a mango-colored sky,
And rows of green clouds passing by.
Fire through my veins sweetly ran,
I welcomed this new world, a man.

I watched as night became white,
Amid eternal turmoil's fight.
In solar eclipses’ endless race,
Stars scattered far from their place.

In this unreal fairy tale,
Where king was none but myself,
My desires all burned to ash,
Strength, friendship, family crashed.

I saw black-winged monsters tear
The flesh of my fragile dream here.
Defeat them I could not, alas,
Left life behind in its mass.

Faces flashed everywhere around,
Like Halloween’s haunting sound.
Becoming like them, to my fear,
Forgotten were love and mango’s flavor dear.

In fits, tearing at my skin,
Whispered with my last breath within:
"I’ll quit, I can, I’ll quit..."
And did! And lived! And fit!
