Hell And Heaven

Autumn in New York,
Broke and out of work,
Six o'clock - it's getting dark,
Waiting on a friend,
Coffee in your hand,
Shadows in the Central Park
Jeans are hangin' loose,
Phone is out of juice,
Wouldn't hurt to grab a bite,
Little cash on hand,
Two months behind on rent,
Future doesn't seem too bright
This city's gone berserk and craven,
Greed and fear around, all meaning lost,
But I will make you smile in hell and heaven,
Even if I'm just a ghost
Looser by default,
Car is getting towed,
You may never get it back,
Horrors in the news,
Tired and confused,
All you need is just some slack
Getting darker still,
Twenty dollar bill,
Crumpled on the ground right next,
Goodness, me oh mine,
Dinner but no wine
Happening without pretext
Waiter says his name is Kevin,
His smile is in a phony way polite,
My eyes will find your eyes in hell and heaven,
And I don't care who says what's right
Love is what this place is cravin'
All without love is lost,
But I will hold your hand in hell and heaven,
And I don't care which one comes first
