The Road

The Road, The Fields
The road, the fields,
Whisper soft on both sides,
Daisies like stars
Nod gently in time.
You lead me once more,
Far beyond the skyline,
To ages long faded,
To footsteps so wide.
The open plains, the desert sands,
Through forests deep, wherever I stand.
From quiet trails, with strength untold,
You flow once more beyond the fold.
Years slip away,
Centuries vanish,
The world is reborn,
As fate takes its toll.
And yet you remain,
Through time everlasting.
And yet you remain,
Forever unrolled.
The open plains, the desert sands,
Through forests deep, wherever I stand.
From quiet trails, with strength untold,
You flow once more beyond the fold.
Now shrouded in mist,
Heavy and low,
You swirl and you twist,
At my weary feet.

As if for the first time,
Your silence was broken.
And I walk alone,
Not knowing the road.
