Sarah and Werner

Sarah, a nice young Ashkenazi woman with dark blue eyes and chestnut hair, was wise enough not to reveal her origins. She found herself a handsome blonde-haired SS-Untersturmfuhrer, Werner and married him as any decent girl would have. They were very happy together. Sarah was good at cooking and in bed, and soon she discovered she was pregnant. Upon hearing this, Werner told her he was the happiest man in entire Germany. So he did his utmost to provide for his wife and their future child. She would eat a lot of delicious food that Werner would bring home for her every day. Nine months later Sarah bore her husband a son, Abraham. Once the SS-Untersturmfuhrer got to see him, he was sent to the Eastern Front and went missing in action.

"Now you're probably a widow" said Sarah's mother Razel to her daughter "But you're not the only one, of course. Many good wives in Germany become widows these days"... Sarah heaved a heavy sigh and cried bitter tears. As soon as she stopped, her mother told her: "All right but that's enough. There will be no more time for tears, dear. Raising a son means hard work. Get started. I'll be around to help you with every little thing".

Sarah began following her mother's instructions immediately and was busy every day. But still, she missed her dearest husband with all her heart just as she had loved him, and sometimes she would secretly cry, looking at the photos where they were together, where he was alone and with his comrades in arms. Needless to say, Werner never returned, neither in a short time nor even decades later.

A year and a half since the birth of Abraham, Nazi Germany was defeated and the war came to an end. In the post-war world, it was nessesary for certain people to not be ignorant of their roots. So Sarah and Razel did their best to raise the boy to be a successful independent man, proud of his true heritage. He was thankful to them for that for the rest of his life. Still, he kept a few tear-stained photos in his album that were of Werner wearing the SS uniform. Perhaps it was because Abraham was a decent man and thought it unfair to reject the memories of a man without whom he wouldn’t have existed, or perhaps it was because he had inherited his father's physical appearance and personality. Everyone knew him as a handsome blond with light blue eyes, brave in any situation he faced, accurate in all calculations he performed, and precise in every assessment he made.

He never had problems knowing who his father Werner was. Although he didn't boast about it to anyone either.
