Across the wild steppes of Transbaikalia

Painting "Peters girl after meeting with bears who ate all her halva" (2024). Neoart by Pit Demidoff.

Across the wild steppes of Transbaikalia
The wandering artist is coming
He beckons a woman from St. Petersburg to come to him
Who wanders to St. Petersburg

She wanted to circumnavigate the world
Walk by Chita on foot
The backpack was torn by bears
And they ate dreams with halva

She's not well
Suffers without caffeine-halva
Only the wind blows over her
Kumara of the sacred herb

Art traveler is not wearing sneakers
And in the scary big cats
And the companion is completely barefoot
And his pants were torn with holes.

They go begging from the Buryats
No one gives them halva
Only occasionally a stale cracker
They put it in their mouths for two

They approach Lake Baikal in such a way
They're taking a fishing boat
They start a sad song
They sing something about the motherland

They are sailing, Barguzin is urging them on
They're heading straight for Olkhon.
A cow has been nailed to the Oboe
He's coming towards me to milk

Oh, hello, oh, hello, dear
Save us with your milk
We haven't eaten or slept in a long time
And we're probably going to die soon.

We're so wrinkled that our legs
They don't go anywhere at all
Halva is not given by evil gods
And we won't get to Petersburg.

The cow gives milk
And they drink the whole pot.
When suddenly the Khan-hute-spirit appeared
Halva gave a huge ration

The girl went crazy with the tambourine
I forgot my way far away
I've been eating all evening and all night
Sucking halva with milk

And in the morning the artist woke up
Lost the girl forever
And he spent a long time crying over the cow.
In a sketchbook, he drew with a tear
