Education - is light?

they lock the doors, they dim the light,
and turn the world from day to night.
with every lesson, dull and cold,
they strip the heart of what it holds.

no room for dreams, no time to play,
just endless drills that wear away
the spark that once could set them free,
the wildness of their fantasy.

in classrooms where the walls close tight,
they teach to memorize, not fight.
and little hands, once filled with grace,
now trace the lines that others trace.

where once they painted skies and stars,
now they’re confined by silent bars.
their voices muted, hearts confined,
as learning slowly dims their mind.

they teach to follow, not to lead,
to mold and shape, not plant a seed.
the future’s bright, but they don’t see
the price they pay for conformity.

oh, how it breaks to watch them fall,
to watch the light fade, one and all.
for in the world they’ve built so small,
there’s no room left for them to stand tall.

so let them dream, and let them roam,
for only then they’ll find their home.
in art and thought, in love and song,
they'll build a world where they belong.

but first, we must unlearn the lies,
and open wide the children's eyes.
for in their hearts, a fire still burns,
a lesson that the world must learn.
