When I am gone
In empty halls where once my footsteps fell,
A silence now, a story to tell.
Whoever knocks, the door stays still,
And those who come, with wonder will,
Think perhaps I roam as I always did,
But they'll wait till evening's golden bid,
For lights to shine, for warmth to ignite,
The fire's glow, and dinner's savory delight.
They don't know yet that I'm far away,
No longer here, but searching for the bay,
My heart beats fast, my soul astray,
I'm seeking roads that lead me to a brighter day.
On distant shores, where love and peace reside,
I yearn to find, a place to abide,
Free from the shadows that once confined,
Where light and hope, forever entwine.
