A Prayer

In the silence so complete, in the stillness of the night,
I whisper this prayer by the candle's gentle light:
'Almighty, shield my heart from malice, greed, and lies,
So more joy and light can fill these earthly skies.

Grant me strength to bear the sorrow and the pain,
Pour your love, your care, forgiveness like the rain.
Let me never wound the ones I hold so close,
Oh Lord, forgive our sins, and heal what hurts the most.'

Oh Lord, protect, and please sustain
My homeland, all my kin, my heart’s domain!
Be my wisdom, bless my way,
Bring solace to my soul, keep sinful thoughts at bay.
Forgive the ones who wound and those who scorn,
Have mercy, lead us to a world reborn!'

In the still of the night, with the candle burning low,
I heard Your answer, soft, beneath the golden glow:
'My child, I’ll guard you from the trials that you dread.
I’m with you now, forever — here beside you as you tread.'

'Protect your soul, let your love be true,
Fear not the dark, for I’ll see you through.
Be still, believe, and trust it all to me,
For in your faith, my peace will set you free.'
