Russian poets are not romantic.
Because nights here are very cold.
And to catch just one moment ecstatic -
You should be very quick and bold.

There is no romantics in Joseph,
Balmont - is angel with shattered dreams.
And the sorrow he showed was Verbless -
that is the Russian, very deep theme.

Loneliness is so close to coldness.
I love it - and so let it be.
It was not cold in snowy Kronstadt
since saint John has become altruist.

Русские поэты - не романтики,
потому что лютые здесь ночи,
и поймать один момент экстаза
надо очень смело или срочно.

Не романтик здесь Иосиф Бродский,
Бальмонт - ангел с битыми мечтами,
Это тема русских - безглагольность
Грусти безысходной и печали.

Холод одиночеству сродни здесь.
Мне это по нраву - пусть и так.
Не было ведь холодно в Кронштадте,
Где был альтруистом Иоанн.

Я живу для вас - сказал он многим,
Тот объединяющий огонь
Выжег самолюбия всю горечь
И весь мир завоевал с Христом.
