Unravelling a Woman

In winter evening soft as twilight's breath,
I seek to know, O passing light of day,
What stirs within her heart’s own depth,
What fuels her flames, what leads astray?

Her passion burns like blazing fire,
While her gaze chills as winter’s breath.
Two worlds in contrast, yet conspire.
A dance of life or a waltz with death?

As North and South, so fierce, so stark,
Like tempest’s roar against the sea,
She brings both joy and aching dark,
A spellbinding, sweet mystery.

Tell me, from whence do her dreams sprout,
In that unseen, enchanted sphere?
Why is it that where yes stands out,
A hidden no is lurking near?

O radiant face, aglow by night,
Bestow your warmth upon her soul.
Let gentle slumbers hold her tight,
In restless hours, let shadows roll.

May tears be strangers to her eyes,
And melodies of birds take flight.
For in this vast and starry guise,
Let hope be hers, and love the light.
