Learning to Soar
A soul confronts the thread that cleaves,
Faced with death, a shift unfolds,
A tale of strength, of truths retold.
With every breath he drew from me,
The air grew thin, my heart set free,
Yet now beside him, gasping still,
For love’s embrace can choke at will.
In understanding's tender light,
A metamorphosis took flight,
I shed the weight of love once worn,
From ashes grey, a new self born.
Then entered he, with gentle grace,
A breath of wind, a soft embrace,
No tether tight, no shadowed fight,
In his warm presence, I found my light.
Now here I stand, a spirit bright,
A phoenix rising, taking flight,
No longer bound, but learning to soar,
In love that breathes, forevermore.
