You are the night,
and I fear
I’ll forget how stunning you are
when the first rays of sunlight come.
Fingers find their way to nape,
tracing slowly through your hair.
I kiss your neck, lingering,
and lose myself in your darkest eyes.
I yearn to whisper your name,
to call you out,
so that you always
respond to me.
Your voice, your warmth—
these are the things
I wish to preserve forever.
Reflect in my eyes,
feel me while we are near,
take all that belongs to me —
in my soul, in my body —
all for you.
You know everything.
You understand.
You are always so much,
and yet never enough,
you are both clear
and out of reach,
warm like the desert breeze,
wild like the ocean,
burning like
sun-heated sand.
Keep all of this with you,
keep me inside you,
keep us.
