Autumn by the Sea

A lonely ocean shore at evening's dawn,
Waves softly carry the sand—
Sun-kissed travelers come and gone,
It’s Autumn’s breeze once more.
Yet our journeys reach across the sea,
Unchanged after they drift away,
Like surging waves, unseen to be,
Still, we long to walk that way.
But there’s a truth we shall recall,
Only one has walked the sea at all.
Our footprints trace the road's embrace,
And nothing more, and nothing less,
Beneath Autumn’s gentle grace..
