The Song of Wisdom

In the East, where dawn greets the new day's light,
A sage resided, whose words held such might.
To his students, wisdom he did impart,
'Many ways there are to wound a heart,' he'd start.

'Should they call you talentless and weak,
Or a foolish, or a slave, their words to speak,
Know that within those spiteful sounds,
No truth. The truth is like sunlight that surrounds,

And chases shadows, dark and deep:
He who calls you foolish, cannot keep
His power, it's a fact, a truth to see,
Only a slave seeks slavery, you'll agree.

Only the talentless see all as such,
Only a fool will call you a clutch
Of folly, and a madman will find
Madness in you, a twisted mind.

For in others, they see their own dark heart,
They judge by themselves, a cruel, hurtful art.
Shield your heart from venom and from spite,
With wisdom answer malice and its blight.

For wisdom is a shield, strong and true,
May it protect me and you.
From all the hurts that life may bring,
Let wisdom be the song that we all sing.'

The heart, a fortress, strong and true,
Protected by a virtue new.
No path for vengeance to reside,
But love and kindness, side by side.
