Background of the poem "Fox and grapes":  We, all know this fable written by the famous Russian  poet Ivan Krylov in 1808. When we don't have the ability to do something, we look for excuses and make negative comments. We try to hide our disability by saying this or that. It comforts our mind.  The Mother fox entered the vineyard and saw ripe red grapes and wanted to eat them. Unable to catch the grapes hanging far above, after losing much time and effort, she consoled herself by saying, “The fruits are green, not ripe. They are sour. Eating them will fill the teeth with acid”. This is described in the poem in an incredibly beautiful language.

Fox and grapes

Hungry mother Fox climbed into the garden,
In it, the bunch of grapes were reddened.
The gossip's eyes and teeth flared up;
And cluster of juicy grapes like ruby burn;
Only trouble is, they hang high:
Where and how she will not go to them,
Though the eye sees
Yes, the tooth is numb.
Breaking through the whole hour in vain,
She went and said with annoyance: “Well, well!
Looks like he's good
Yes, green - no ripe fruits:
Immediately teeth will get astringent by sour taste."

Голодная кума Лиса залезла в сад,
В нем винограду кисти рделись.
У кумушки глаза и зубы разгорелись;
А кисти сочные как яхонты горят;
Лишь то беда, висят они высоко:
Отколь и как она к ним ни зайдет,
Хоть видит око,
Да зуб неймет.
Пробившись попусту час целой,
Пошла и говорит с досадою: «Ну, что ж!
На взгляд-то он хорош,
Да зелен — ягодки нет зрелой:
Тотчас оскомину набьешь».
