Don’t cry, the Elders, since the ship with sinners
has no right to dock at Mount Athos, keeping
your peace untouched. The sign of Cross, as always,
is formed by my embarrassed fingers, though
I dare not pray even for being happy.
I will just look with silent apprehension
at Holy Garden, from afar, while sailing
and hoping to stay somehow at a distance,
but flocks of costal seagulls, as the dolphins,
will guide the ship back to the inner border.
