Ellipses and gaps
Though recklessness may seem absurd,
Absurd the flight appeared thus.
Soaring over Paris, like a herd,
On cardboard, like an elephant, we fuss.
Diplomacy's curtain falls, quietly, I shun this dreamy dross.
Ellipses and gaps, like laws, don't scrawl,
Rats everywhere now creep,
Gnawing through every wall.
What to do now Europe's no threat,
perhaps by morning, a visit to beget,
ask the minister for a hint,
maybe Guatemala or Bolivia, as meant.
Just not to be sent to guard dry sand,
drinkingly bold, taking a stand.
It would be nice to have nearby,
not grabbed by the wicked, leaden pry.
Ellipses and gaps, like laws, don't scrawl,
Rats everywhere now creep,
Gnawing through every wall.
Once philosophers declared,
that now we hold the power.
But failed to mention where
we should dismount this hour.
Beneath the armor, vision's shy,
head lice may stir unseen,
Strength of the horse runs high,
beauty in lands pristine.
Ellipses and gaps, like laws, don't scrawl,
Rats everywhere now creep,
Gnawing through every wall.
Born I was not for grandeur bright,
To serve not those in might.
The people's trust, I'll hold dear tight,
Their concerns in my sight.
Sick leave or pension I might claim,
For if the people exclaim,
Many questions they may aim.
Ellipses and gaps, like laws, don't scrawl,
Rats everywhere now creep,
Gnawing through every wall.
