Surprise at a current situation
"And yet here we are" is a perfectly correct and usable phrase in written English. It is usually used to express surprise at a current situation, often in comparison to a prior expectation.

1. For example, imagine a team working on a project with a tight deadline. Initially, they weren’t sure they’d finish on time, but now, only one week away from completion, they can say, “We weren’t sure we’d be able to finish the project in time, yet here we are!”
