The Sea

Why the sea sometimes gets agitated -
Scatters pebbles and shells in the deep,
To a lonely shore rises in waves
And forgetfully sighs in retreat?

Maybe it’s just because a hot wind,
Roaming endlessly under the sun,
Tousles playfully  curls of the waves -
Young and free, always ready to run?

Maybe it’s just because in its blue fields
Schools of fish slowly circle in silence,
And the wales show their backs on the surface
To the ships as a greeting and guidance?

Maybe it’s just because a bird cries
On its way to a far destination,
Or because the silver Moon shines,
Tempts the sea with its gravitation?

Maybe now, beyond the horizon,
Where prying eyes can’t see them meeting
The sky kisses the sea and they merge
For a moment long waited but fleeting.
