Girl and Eagle

Upon the high riverbank she stands,
Speaking to an eagle with outstretched hands.
"Have you seen my beloved, brave and true,
Who went to war under skies so blue?"

"Please, take a message, spread your wings and soar,
Tell him I love him, now and forevermore.
Tell him I'm waiting, by the river's bend,
For him to come back, when this war to end."

The eagle nods, with a promise in his eyes,
He takes to the skies, where hope never dies.
To find her warrior, in lands afar,
Carrying her love, like a shining star.
