A junk fee is a type of surcharge that is often hidden from customers until the transaction is almost over. These charges can include fees for overdraft or nonsufficient funds, late fees for not paying a bill on time, convenience fees, prepaid card fees, closing costs and homebuying fees, and more. Junk fees are found across most financial services and can make it more difficult to do comparison shopping, according to a fact sheet released by the White House in March

Although Donald Trump has had small single-digital leads over President Joe Biden in some recent polls, Biden and Democratic strategists have a long list of things they can use to attack the 2024 GOP presidential frontrunner — from abortion to Obamacare to voting rights. Another possible line of attack for Biden, according to the Daily Beast's Jake Lahut, is junk fees.
