Mystery

Look at me how you used to.
The room is dark, sit down on my bed,
touch the skin of my freezing hand -
you would bring me back to life.

Go back home, don't turn around.
Tell your friends you just got so tired,
cause what started in the pouring rain -the death broke in the summer night.

I had the time to find peace in your mystery,
and the backstairs you held me on in secrecy.
I saw the sky, it crumbled down,
and you're closing my eyes as it rains in this one page dusty town.

Take my pictures in the frame.
The ones I would never show
if we had more times for tales, if I didn't have to go.

Touch the letters of my name.
Mannered manners, that you can't stand.
Pretend it's not the same,
and I'll secretly stroke your hand.

Take a step up on that bridge,
in the light you look at the gates.
The ones you walked out one last time,
and you'll never be here again.

Pick my favorite scarlet flowers.
You'll place them in that usual place, where I counted questions in your eyes, where you softly kissed my face.

And you'll take your sweatshirt back.
It still smells like my old cologne,
go over last words that I said,
then erase me from your phone.

You never needed it like I did.
Dropped my hand, and then went ahead.
I was running up on the stairs
just to perish in my bed.

You'll be going down the street.
Stop when you shiver in the autumn wind.
Would you feel your heart skips a beat,
if you see someone like me?

but I'll haunt you like leaves in the wind, won't you just leave me?
screaming to your back now it's time to believe me
I promise you I'd never die if you stay with me forevermore

but you're in the haze turning off lanterns
get off your high horse we're nothing but strangers
but i promised you I'd stay alive if you stay with me forevermore

you've got a way to go
leaving my haunted home
in one page dusty town
