As August's full moon comes around.
The Sturgeon Moon, they used to say,
For fish that swam in springs that day.
When summer days were hot and long,
The lakes teemed with a giant throng
Of sturgeon fish, so large and prime,
In chill waters of northern clime.
The moon waxes full in late summer night,
Shining its glow so big and bright.
The Sturgeon Moon tells seasons' story,
And times of fish long gone in glory.
