My memorial garden for you

to L.D.V.

If in my whole garden there grew
Just one single flower to remind me of you
It would be the peony clad in soft morning hew.
For it’s so short lived. Just a day – and adieu!

If in my whole garden there was just one tree
That could faithfully tell the story of “we”
It would be weeping willow, buzzing with fleas,
For it grows by the filthy old pond, don’t you see.

If in my whole garden there was just one grass
To remind me this sad little story of “us”,
It would certainly be brown rustling pampas,
For it sways in the winds, gets blown down… Alas!

Very touching poem! It has reawakened forgotten emotions and feelings. Great syllable, presentation of the topic and interesting rhymes.
