Jesus believed in the one God of Israel

As an observant Jew, Jesus would have believed in the one God of Judaism, just as other Jews of his time and today believe. The Christian doctrine of the Trinity, which teaches that God is composed of three distinct persons - the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit - is not a part of Jewish theology and was not part of Jesus' own beliefs.

While Jesus is often depicted in Christian tradition as having a unique relationship with God, as the "Son of God," this does not necessarily mean that he believed in a different God than the God of Judaism. Rather, the Christian belief in Jesus as the Son of God reflects a different understanding of the nature of God and the relationship between God and humanity than is found in Judaism.
