Sini Platochek 1940

SINI PLATOCHEK 1940
(J. Galitsky, Translated by D. Burakov)

That very modest blue kerchief
Was sliping off graceful neck.
And came to mind
          your sweet words about
Never forgetting our dates.

And once at night
You said goodbye to me, sighed.
The nights ain’t cheerful,
          where’re you, kerchief,
Dear, adorable my?

This frigid winter is o’er,
Our sky’s azure and calm.
My heart’s inspired,
          needing a summer,
After the springtime has sprung.

And in springtime
At that shady familiar pine
Will flash like blue floret
          the same modest kerchief,
Dear, adorable my.
