Adventures of the Examiner through Time - a Ballad

The Examiner’s Adventures through Time,a Ballad

She woke, the rays of the sun on her skin,
And ventured a tentative gaze:
A forest, a meadow, none of her kin,
A mellow warmth on her face…

A toothbrush, a meter – her favorite tools.
“Where am I?” – she pondered aloud.
The evening was coming, a castle stood
In distance – shimmering, proud.

The lady arose, and sighed and yawned,
A note lay at her feet:
“You traveled in space, and in time, and beyond,
Your spirit is able and fleet…

“Your mission…” – and here the note was torn,
Continued: “….adventure and risk…”
The castle awoke - it seemed - to a horn,
Her steps were elastic and brisk.

She knocked on the gates and a bearded guard
Looked with a questioning glance.
“I’m here for supper, I’m not very armed.”
He frowned, and squeezed on his lance,

Suspiciously looked at the meter in hand.
She smiled: my trusted friend.
Disarmed by the smile, he gestured “ahead”
And here the chapter ends…

To be continued…
