Mormo (Greek: ;;;;;, ;;;;;;, Morm;) or Mormon was a female spirit in Greek folklore, whose name was invoked by mothers and nurses to frighten children to keep them from misbehaving.
The term mormolyce /m;;r;m;l;;si;/ (;;;;;;;;;; pl. mormolykeia ;;;;;;;;;;;), also spelt mormolyceum /m;;r;m;l;;si;;m/ (;;;;;;;;;;;; mormoluke;on), is considered equivalent.

A creature that reminds a wolf
Plays with the children
Under cover of the darkness.
They are frightnened yet excited
And they keep calm
After such games.
Mormo is a dark lady
Whose nature is playful and menacing.
