a perfect world
The ebb and flow, the light and shade,
The sparkly sand, the creamy waves,
The cliffs concealing chilly caves,
The greens and blues that never fade,
And that’s not all I have crocheted.
My world is an enchanted place:
Look at my dress awash with lace,
My flowing skirt, my fancy bow.
My dancing fingers are aglow
From gleaming yarn – I’m not afraid
To live the life I have crocheted:
The sunrise burning golden red
That took me years and yards of thread,
The million birds that soar and swoop,
The universe - loop after loop,
From stitch to stitch, a slip, a skip,
From row to row, a rise, a dip.
A dreamy solitary trade,
A perfect world I have crocheted.
