How freely

How freely do we dance
In foreign lands?
How doubtfully are we received by folks?

How drastically do we make amends
While drawing our dreams with shining chalk?

These venomous and all-consuming days
We bless with our spiritual domain -
We realize that sadness in disguise
Is shallow, and as deep it will remain
As ruthless songs of young and playful birds.

We dance for life, we're stunned by someone's hurt.
These symbols of our restlessness won't fade,
Since in your look I see all hues of jade.
