Erased faces, lackluster colours,-
People-puppets are in  worn clothes,
A look is similar to other look,
Get on the bandwagon, come  to me.   
My show is so good to see,
Wellcome into my amusing  nook!

Harlequins and pirates,
Circus performers and acrobats,
And a villain, who can crush  your rosy  plans.
Striped tiger, wolf and hare,
Clever monkey, weighty bear,-
They are  puppets in overworked hands.

The puppets are pulled by thin threads,
They have smiles on the face,
The clown plays the trumpet very well.
And in process of the session
We  have got a real impression,
That all of them act without human help.

Oh, sometimes it's a shame,
The owner is out of the game!
The threads go up - and he's not seen.
So we believe in this like kids,
That the dolls have own needs,
Forgetting that  they're obedient to him.

...The time has run, the show is over,
Candeles don't shine 'cause of the owner,
The moonlight will appear over the scene.
The dolls will be removed from the threads,
Like rags they will lie "heads to heads"
In old dusty chests with naphthalene.

Лица стерты, краски тусклы —
То ли люди, то ли куклы,
Взгляд похож на взгляд,
А тень — на тень.
И я устал и, отдыхая,
В балаган вас приглашаю,
Где куклы так похожи на людей.

Арлекины и пираты,
Циркачи и акробаты,
И злодей, чей вид внушает страх,
Волк и заяц, тигры в клетке —
Все они марионетки
В ловких и натруженных руках.

Кукол дергают за нитки,
На лице у них улыбки,
И играет клоун на трубе.
И в процессе представленья
Создается впечатленье,
Что куклы пляшут сами по себе.

Ах, до чего ж порой обидно,
Что хозяина не видно:
Вверх и в темноту уходит нить.
А куклы так ему послушны,
И мы верим простодушно
В то, что кукла может говорить.

Но вот хозяин гасит свечи —
Кончен бал и кончен вечер,
Засияет месяц в облаках...
И кукол снимут с нитки длинной
И, засыпав нафталином,
В виде тряпок сложат в сундуках.
