Friends for lifetime

              To Jeff and Stephen - true travelers...

There were two
When I met them,
There were two
Smiling men.
Looking for something
Expanding,
Searching for things
Strangely great.
Different look
They presented,
Different talk
They preferred
But for some reason
They both
Felt like
Two brothers
They were.
Countries they
Changed
And the settings,
Met other friends
On the way,
But for some reason
They both
Couldn't
Stay long
By themselves.
Distances didn't
Hardly matter -
Heart always
Found
The chance
Meet in the middle
Of rattle,
Give the support
To its friend.
Kind was the life
To men both,
Thousands of miles
They have passed,
But in the end
Of the journey
One left the world
Right at once.
Mountains, lakes
And the trails
Look like abandoned
And bleak,
Man now's standing
Alone
Feeling his knees
Very weak.


Jeff (on the left) passed away on April 29th from COVID in Ecuador...
They stayed friends for over 40 years.
