you in I love you

Emphasizing “you” in “I love you”,
making it “I love y o u, I mean y o u”
is what makes you disarmingly
charming,
is what might make your girlfriend blue.

Since you don’t look her in the eyes,
even don’t turn your head her way.
Since sincerity left her smiles,
since the smiles themselves drowned in clay
of what used to be “I’m so happy
to present him and welcome you here”,
of what used to be “it’s my pleasure”
and “enjoy” after “please, walk in”.

It’s so common, so to be expected,
since so many give in and lose hold
before getting their hands on the prey, –
just like every night has its dawn.

So in blood bath in which I’m laying,
loving to observe and rethink,
I am wondering if you’re staying
where you’re at or decide to sink
this ship; whether it be in paper
or in time it takes to apprise.
Whether y o u come out alive in it –
see, I also learn to emphasize.
