Bird cherry cold snap
The first cold snap is called after a bird cherry.
A bird cherry, like any plant, is a very practical person having a mind of her own.
Once in a blue moon the Bird cherry said:
-- Why, everyone around admires the Rose! What an injustice! They even call her a queen of flowers! What's so special about her? The fragrance! Big deal! All nectar in her does not worth a tear in a cats eye. What a way of rapping the poor insects round one's finger! But I’ll act even trickier! Instead of bothering with all the chemistry-memistry there, like these dummies of a rose, I will just go and look directly into the future!
No sooner said than done. The Bird cherry started penetrating not into the ground, as it should be, but right into the "tomorrow". After all, it is as dark and mysterious as the soil in which the seeds are sprouting.
-- Well! So I wiped up the noses of those arrogant roses, ” the Bird cherry exclaimed feeling satisfied with herself. -- Now I can afford to be discreet
and unfold each petal in such a way as to lure a maximum of pollinators. And most importantly, I will be able to save on nectar and perfume.
Since then, all bird cherry trees bloom in the cold weather and smell like dunghill, which, as you know, emits heat. Insects, wanting to warm themselves up, are in a hurry to flock to this "aroma". And the Bird cherry is standing there and chuckling. All strewn with flowers, like a magical white cloud!
