Nothing has changed

When you are walking along an almost empty street,
and see the next masked passerby
a few hundred steps ahead,
both of you carefully plan your routes,
so to stay at least six-feet away.
You do not looking at each other when passing...

When at some spot you see construction
and maintenance  people, masked as well:
raise your hand, as you meet them, nod your head,
and, suddenly, in this empty and solemn atmosphere,
you will experience the bright-eyed smile,
and you will see the face behind the mask,
and in this moment you will recognize -
nothing has changed.

This poem is encouraging in a quiet way. I like the precise details and the simplicity.
