Starfall

Fortunately for us, it was another sunny day in the middle of spring what encouraged us to have a spontaneous long-distance car trip to the oceanfront. As our mutual wish was to stay by the ocean until nightfall, we were forced to change into warm clothes. We were moving along the streets, some of which were very crowded with locals and tourists alike because of the city’s festival. When we reached the right crossing, the car turned north and took an alternative road, thus avoiding the noise and crowds of revellers. Another sharp bend of the road took us to the exciting view of the ocean that was still in distance, so we were hurrying to reach it. The light wind was blowing in from the south and we were pleased that it wasn’t raining today. As we got out the car, we continued our conversation about everything in our normal, casual way. That was such a big pleasure because none of us wanted to think about our daily routine. We were deeply impressed by high blue tides.

As the night began to close in, many of those who had wished to come at this destination too. Periodically, bonfires and small lanterns appeared along the coastline. Over a period of time, the night sky was filled by warm yellow lights. Laughter came from all around us. We took our warm blankets out of the car and sat closer to the bonfire. After some long and sincere talks, someone started to play a guitar. We were listening and looking at the sky… Finally, the sky was lit up by dozens of shiny things that were twinkled and fell down with indescribable beauty.
