A successful divorce

‘’So now what? What... a divorce? Really a divorce?’’ screamed Mary’s friend Lolla so loudly that as a result of this, some people from the sunbathing book club nervously turned around, and those trying to do some sport just slightly glanced over in disgust. Lolla’s red hair was blowing in the wind, which made the image of her even more impressive. She was properly raised on great English and French novels, that in time, deeply impacted on her view of life and the world as a whole, something that probably could never be erased. While Mary understood and respected Lolla’s viewpoint, she didn’t entirely share it.
“Shush, shhh… easy! Actually, it is a successful divorce… and besides why are you getting so fired? You’ll scare all the fish away…"

The sun was already high in the sky and its sunbeams beautifully reflected back off the surface of the light turquoise ocean. It seemed Mary could contemplate this forever like a miracle. In the distance, some satisfied holiday-makers merrily started splashing around, which made them squeal with joy. The appearance of their backs served as a reminder to the people around them about getting a glorious suntan, and the long hours that they would have to spend on the beach in order  to achieve the same desired result. When Lolla returned to her old ways of nagging, Mary almost didn’t listen to her, but unwillingly though took her eyes off the surface of the water. The waiter’s sudden appearance with a tray full of cocktail glasses helped calm what was tense atmosphere, and generally saved the situation. Mary, with her luxurious, glossy mane, smiled politely at the waiter, held her head up and let that lustrous hair fall on her shoulders.

“Ah, don’t be so ridiculous… All this is nonsense,” said Mary slowly shrugging off Lolla’s words before continuing: “What I indeed want is to pursue amazing career, whilst being able to walk on the beach from time to time and search for colourful shells...” She raised her eyes dreamily towards the blue sky, lightly giggled as she pulled the pink drinking straw to her lips, and sipped on a cocktail. It was getting late when they lazily decided to grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants that had been highly recommended by the locals.
