To fall in love...

Аскольд
to truly fall in love
you have to open up,
and make a step ahead,
into unknown forever;
desiring to forget
the bridges burnt to ground,
and pain that you endured
through emptiness and tremor;

you have to overcome
that fear your past dictates
and stand up, strong and still,
awaiting dooming judgement.

so many walk away
from love they could have had
because they cannot bear
rejection through attachment.

Love could be small or big, even happy and sacrificial at once.
After all, who said that one who dies for the sake of the other is unhappy?

I think, love is a mere reflection of our feelings to its object.
It could also mean the world to one and nothing to the other.
Like, a mom could devote her life to the child... just to see him leave her some day; or a girl giving all that she has just to see him with someone else.

As sad as this may seems, as long as we are capable of love we can survive as a species, don't you think? :)
