Eternal friend

Throughout my life you followed me
In happiness and in misery
We shared everything we had
The darkness, the light, the good and the bad

We'd been such good friends as I was a child
But as I'd grown older it changed
I didn't understand you, I started to lie
And all what we had was betrayed

I lost my respect to you, got some new friends
But you always stayed by my side
New friends came and left, you became cold and strange
And nothing already felt right

I started to hate you and blame in my pain
But was getting lost more and more
You didn't say a word, you just stood by me
Tried to help and remained the same

And when everyone turned their back on me
You were the one who stayed
You looked in my eyes, reflecting in tears
And helped me to find the way

I tried to forget you, and you turned to shadow
Not showing me your face
You heard how I prayed, you knew how I dreamt
Of having a real friend

Sometimes I betrayed you or hurt
And after that I felt dead
But still during all the years
I followed and you led

And only so much later
I realized a simple thing
You made your mistakes but you always were here
My dear, my only friend

You helped me to go through
You cared of all I needed
You wiped my tears in sorrows
And never laughed at my bleeding

Always comes to be near and listen
To everything I need to tell
Every time I look in the mirror
I can see my eternal friend
