We Sleep Like
keeping our eyes open,
looking playfully at each other.
We sleep like fearsome lions
under the ardent yellow heat
on guard in their pride.
We sleep like an old married couple
who are afraid to wake up alone
in a worn-out bed someday.
We sleep like two little monkeys
being held prisoner in a human zoo,
embracing each other.
We sleep like grapes in wine
making drunk each other
without memories of yesterday.
We sleep like being late,
because a train won`t wait for you
asleep suddenly at noon.
We sleep like border guard dogs
suffering without sleep by their turn,
inheriting insomnia from each other.
We sleep like sunken ships
at the bottom of the sea
dreaming of waking up again.
We sleep like a mother with her child
cherished on her breast
his lovely little head.
We sleep like the destroyed Pompeii
and their killer called Volcano
wiping tears off of each other.
We sleep like we slept before birth
growing together in our hands
and foreheads.
