Clown
The clown falls down, the clown stands up
He sobs artificial tears
He drinks but abruptly tips over the cup
He cries but the audience cheers
And after the circus is empty at last
His eyes are so faded and blear
He thinks of the future, he thinks of the past
His tears are now sincere
Chorus
But nobody wants to know
That clowns can also cry.
The audience waits for show.
So, clown, you'd better try
To hide all your grief and sorrow,
To mask all your fails in love.
The audience waits for show
So, clown, just make them laugh.
***
He dances about, he awkwardly sings
His soul is full of elation
The clown is ready for spreading the wings
The circus is his inspiration.
But when the performance is over at night
He feels one more loneliness bout
It kills his emotions and poisons inside
He cries and his wings lie about.
