While in the past we, humans, used to fight
In battles, with swords, in one-to-one arrangements,
And used to win by sheer brutal might
That now looks too rough and full of vengeance,
Our days proclaim a humanistic age,
Compatible with finest inclinations;
There is no place for hateful cruel rage
Among the civilis'd united nations.
We cannot stand brutality of battles,
Yet we destroy and kill without counts:
We treat "uncivilised" folk as cattle,
Remotely killed, thousands amount.
Detaching ourselves from painful views,
We are much crueller in "civilis'd" abuse.
