It is so easy to offend an ego

It is so easy to offend an ego,
So it is bleeding and pronouncing curse;
When cornered, it starts for pity begging,
Or takes humiliated rag'd refuse.

And when the top decisions - rashly taken -
Despatch those who seem useless or too old,
The egos crumble, by ruthless force awaken,
They only can accept this and behold.

No point in their powerless protesting:
How can one overcome the tide of fate?
One either gets to ride it, or gets wasted,
And when that happens, fighting is too late.

Security is possible, all right,
If one's behind the rolling wall of tide.
